Rommy Kushner for Sunnyvale School District Board

Rommy Kushner is running for Sunnyvale School District Trustee Area 3.

Sunnyvale Safe Streets strongly endorses Rommy Kushner for Sunnyvale School District Trustee Area 3. From our interview with Rommy, we learned that she supports safe walking and biking for students to get to school. She says, "Walking and biking should be seen as a normal way to commute to school. We need to change the culture to include walking and biking. Where I grew up in Mexico, people went everywhere on foot. My children in Sunnyvale always walked to school." Her values, along with her pragmatic and sensible approach, makes her a strong candidate for school board.

In contrast, we do not support her competitor, incumbent Michelle Maginot. Michelle was against Hollenbeck bike lanes. She said that Hollenbeck, the way it is today with no bike lanes, is safe for children to bike on, and that children learn how to bike safely on Hollenbeck. When asked how children should handle the 60% of crashes due to driver error, she was unresponsive.
